She was predeceased by: her parents, Edward Hammerschmidt and Pauline Hammerschmidt (Braun); her husband Ralph Appelhans; her siblings, Vera Hammerschmidt, Valerian Hammerschmidt and Virgil Hammerschmidt; and her siblings-in-law, Christie Hammerschmidt, Glenda Hammerschmidt and Kenny Dinkel.
She is survived by: her children, Allan Appelhans of Hoxie, Kansas, Beverly Appelhans of Colby, Kansas, Chris Appelhans (Lori) of Hays and Danny Appelhans (Missy Cogdill) of Friona, Texas; her siblings, Virginia Dinkel of Hays, Verlin Hammerschmidt of Victoria, Vinard Hammerschmidt (Renita) of Tennessee, Valery Hammerschmidt (Linda) of Victoria and Vernon Hammerschmidt of Victoria, Kansas; her grandsons, Cole Appelhans, Brett Appelhans Aubry Appelhans (Lydia Hynek) and Clayton Appelhans; and her great grandchildren, Owen Appelhans and Layla Appelhans. She is also survived by extended family; and many good friends.
