He was predeceased by: his son Donald Smith; his parents, George Smith and Edith Smith; and his siblings, Daniel Smith (Bud), Jean Klein and Betty Mulkey.
He is survived by: his children, Cindy Johnson (CO), Rick Stallsmith (MO) and Cathy Smith (CO); his siblings, Larry Smith and Dodie Henry; and his former wives, Patricia Matthews and Trudy Smith. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren.
