He was predeceased by: his grandparents, Arthur and Carrie Smith; his son Richard Joseph Smith; his parents, Raymond Smith and Mildred Smith; his brothers, Milner, Raymond and Floyd "Butch" Smith; and his sister-in-law Lois Irene Peterson Smith.
He is survived by: his wife Lois Peterson; his sister Bernetta Johnson; and his children, Michael Ray Smith, Marcie Ben (Manny), Teresa Stamey (Rob), Tamara Swindler (Jim), Rhonda Jacelon (Tony), Randy Smith (Jennifer) and Lisa Reinert (Mike). He is also survived by his 18 Grand Children and 22 Great Grandchildren.
