He was predeceased by: his parents, Earlean Nelson and Georgia Mae Nelson (Thomas); and his sister Freddie Mae Cheirs (Nelson). He is survived by: his wife Paula N. Nelson (Bennett) of Colorado Springs; his daughters, Eunice Nelson of Colorado Springs and Evonne Nelson-Smith (Darryl) of Jacksonville, FL.; and his siblings, Sandra Stringer (Anthony) of Blue Springs, MO. and Sylvester Nelson (LaDonna) of Youngstown.
His contributions to his community and country did not go unnoticed, leaving a lasting impact on all those he encountered.
