He was predeceased by: his parents, Carmen Martinez and Atanasia Martinez (Gutierrez); and his siblings, Mike, Joe, Jimmy, Elizabeth, Mary, Lawrence, Jessie and Annette.
He is survived by: his wife Sandra Lawrence; his sons, Phillip and Andrew; and his siblings, Sally, Margaret and Carmen.
He also donated much of his time to charities including the Springs Rescue Mission.
