He is survived by: his wife Hiroko; his children, Daryl Ward, Annette (Smith), Joseph Kubek and Jennifer Smith; his grandchildren, Cylina Metcalf, Tyra (Smith), Joseph Giovanniello, Tabari Smith, Gabriel Kubek and Nathaniel Kubek; and his siblings, Zadie Gaines, Patricia Polk, Deborah Gaines, Janice Jackson (Trudy) and Gregory Polk. He is also survived by nieces, nephews and cousins.
