It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Matthew Roland Backus of Centennial, Colorado, born in Alexandria, Virginia, who passed away on January 24, 2024, at the age of 58, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He is survived by: his parents, Roland Backus and Ethel Backus; his daughter Emily Kannenberg (Adam) of New Hampshire; and his sisters, Karen, Cathy and Chris of Virginia. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends.
