He was predeceased by: his wife Dionysia "Denise" Athanasiou. He is survived by: his children, Nicholas Athanasiou and Stella "Lina" Athanasiou; his children-in-law, George Papachristu and Joy Athanasiou; his grandsons, Demetri, Georgio and Costa Athanasiou; his brother Dr. Vaios; and his sister-in-law Magdalini Athanasiou. He is also survived by his many Godchildren, nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
