He was predeceased by: his parents, Arno Serold and Lucille Serold; and his son-in-law John Hegarty. He is survived by: his wife Marie Pierce; his daughters, Laura Hegarty and Leah Rader (Mike); his stepson Richard Pierce; his grandchildren, Alexis, Sophie Hegarty, Alison and Logan Rader; his stepgrandsons, Tyrus and Nolan Pierce; and his sister Clareen Hencey.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Christ Lutheran Church, Craig Hospital or Love, Inc.
