It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Rose Marie (Verzal) Loring (Cedaredge, Colorado), born in Selma, Alabama, who passed away on May 1, 2016, at the age of 85, leaving to mourn family and friends. Rose M Loring died peacefully at her home in Cedaredge Colorado, Sunday morning May 1, 2016. She was 85 years old.
A memorial service to honor and celebrate her life was held in late June 2016 at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery of Western Colorado in Grand Junction Colorado.
Rose Marie Verzal was born August 29, 1930 at Selma Alabama to Frank and Elva (Groh) Verzal. Her first-generation American parents who were from Croatia and Bohemia.
Her childhood was spent in Selma Alabama and Pascagoula, Mississippi. She graduated from Pascagoula high school in 1948.
Rose married George B Stevenson in 1949 after high school graduation. That marriage ended in divorce. She married John M Loring Junior on February 25, 1953 at St. George Utah.
A devoted wife, mother and artist, Rose was widely traveled. She and her family explored and enjoyed the surrounding area while living with husband John and raising three daughters.in Las Vegas Nevada, San Antonio Texas, Biloxi Mississippi, Hampton Virginia, Honolulu Hawaii, Colorado Springs Colorado, and Montgomery Alabama. Rose and John spent eight years in Europe while stationed at RAF Croughton England, and Ramstein Airbase in Kaiserslautern Germany. After John's retirement of 29+ years from the USAF, they raised pecans near Neches Texas. After four years they relocated to Cedaredge Colorado where they have been for over 30 years.
Rose received recognition in volunteer work, both as an Air Force wife and in the community and veteran support activities. Her creativity and development of VFW Buddy Poppy displays won her numerous awards at state and national level. Her faith in God and work with the gleaners that Delta Christian church were noteworthy.
Amoung those grateful to have been a part of her life include her husband, John Loring of Cedaredge Colorado, her daughters; Margaret Rose Warner and her husband Michael of Cedaredge Colorado, Catherine Lynn Hale and her husband William of Longview Texas, Jacqueline Anne Whitman and her husband David of Niceville Florida, and her Rose's Annita May McReynolds of Bullard Texas. Rose is further survived by five grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her brothers Francis Verzal and Julian Charles Verzal and a sister Lillian Ponds.
