It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Melissa Marie Whatley in Canon City, Colorado, born in Denver, Colorado, who passed away on April 3, 2021, at the age of 40, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her mother Bernice Whatley (Trujillo); her grandparents, Rita Whatley (Kenneth) and Carl Trujillo (Josephine); her uncle George DeLaCruz; and her aunt Mary Barrett.
She is survived by: her parent Ferman Whatley (Bernice) of La Junta; her children, Jasmyne Trujillo and Mercedes Whatley; her brother John Daniel "J. D." Whatley (Nichelle Grabow) of La Junta; her niece Olive Marie Whatley; and her nephew Cayden Grabow. She is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
