He was predeceased by: his parents, Agnes May Martin Newman and William Claudius Newman; his siblings, Grover, Bill, Alma and Idamaye; and his sons-in-law, Marvin Schutte and Doug Woods.
He is survived by: his wife Opal Marie Newman; his daughters, Cindy Schutte, Liz Woods (Clarine) and Milana Root (Randy); and his grandchildren, Raquelle Frenchman (Ken), Mindi Sturm (Brian), Patricio Manzanares (Kirise), Mandi Barnes (Jared), Jeanenne Wagner (Jeff), Josh Root (Lauren), Zach Root and Brittany Root.
In lieu of flowers, contributions will be collected by Holt Funeral home to be used to support a few of his favorite charities: Boys Ranch in Amarillo Texas, Salvation Army, Sangre de Cristo Hospice, and a Memorial to be set up at Four Mile Ranch Golf Club.
