She was predeceased by: her parents, Edward Daniels and Genevieve Daniels (Tracy); her sister Jean Solon; and her husband Jim Thompson. She is survived by: her children, Janet Key, Tracy Dundon (Kevin) and Michael McKibbon (Sabra); her brother Edward Daniels (Betty); and her grandchildren, Allen, Kyra, Jack, Kelly, Sarah, Anastasia, Mary-Katherine, Michael Jr., Dominic and Joseph. She is also survived by her friends and family, especially her ten grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers or customary remembrances, those who wish to further honor Joan's memory are invited to consider contributing to the Susan G. Komen foundation for breast cancer research and prevention.
