“I am saddened to hear of the death of Lance Mikkelsen. He was one year ahead of me in training, and served as friend, mentor, and occasional role model. I was inspired by his love of learning, and his habit of teaching himself things. I also appreciated his love of historical fiction. In addition, he delivered my first baby, and provided wonderful, kind prenatal care to my son and me. I am glad to have known him, and will try to remember the various lessons he taught me.”
