He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Dortha Shaver and Julius Shaver. He was also cherished by three children, many grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Instead of flowers the family requests that a donation to St. Jude's Children's' hospital would be appropriate since it is a cause that Gene supported.
