He was predeceased by: his parents, Egbert Berg and Tine Berg of Vries; his wife Constance Lee Cassidy (Connie); and his sister Joan Covey (Maury). He is survived by: his children, Mary Blue (Jim), Tina of Vries, Lexie of Vries and James (Eileen) of Vries; his grandchildren, Nicole Blue, James Erik Blue (Vanessa), Vincent Seah (Pinpin) and Adeline Seah; and his siblings, Jan Roel (Kia), Jack, Bob Zweede (Jeannette), Johan Zweede and Annelies Walton (Alfred). He is also survived by three great grandchildren.
