“The gifted hands and fertile mind of Carmen Hyacinth are now lost to the family. The memories of her will linger on, nevertheless. Dorothy (Harry’s 1st cousin) and I, and Yvonne, David and Andrew often reflect on our interaction with Carmen, Harry and the girls (Debra, Dawn and Lori) in Houston, Texas. We have held that dear to our hearts even though much time has passed since then. Looking through our photo albums, we were disappointed that the camera was pointed only at Harry, the girls and and Carmen’s mom. We have no pictures taken then of the pleasant and beautiful Carmen. One redeeming feature, however, is the picture of my 50th birthday cake which was baked and decorated in 1987 by Carmen. This form of expression of her artistry was a driving force. May she rest peacefully. The Lord knows best. With much love and sorrow, Dorothy and Barry.”
