She was predeceased by: her parents, Nellie Jewell Umphenour and Benjamin Harrison Umphenour; her husband Dirk Richard Schakel; and her siblings, Martha Bennett (Ted Bennett), Betty Stedman (Don Stedmen) and Joe Umphenour.
She is survived by: her daughter Valerie Marshall (David Marshall); her grandchildren, Dirk Benjamin and Zero Eliot Marshall; and her sisters-in-law, Joyce Williamson, Anna Shelton, Pamela Munyon, Myrna Stacy (Roger), Diana Schakel and Beverly Umphenour. She is also survived by nieces and nephews.
