He was predeceased by: his parents, Glenn Helvie and Nancy Helvie (McCord); his son John Helvie; and his siblings, Wanda Thomas, Floyd Helvie, Rose Steele and Delores Manhalter.
He is survived by: his wife Mary; his children, Sheila Hewitt, Glenn Helvie Jr. (Chris) and Robert Helvie (Gwen Larison); and his grandchildren, Andrew Helvie, Dakota Hewitt, Ashley Johnson, Glenn Helvie III, Michael Helvie, Robbie Helvie, James Helvie, Quentin Helvie, Kayden Helvie, John Helvie Jr., Dani Martinez and Josh Perry. He is also survived by nine great grandchildren.
