It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Bush Charles Helzberg of Aspen, Colorado, born in Kansas City, Missouri, who passed away on May 23, 2023, at the age of 52, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He is survived by: his parents, Shirley Bush Helzberg and Barnett C. Helzberg, Jr.; his brother Barnett C. Helzberg III (Jennifer); his children, Oliver, Benton, Leo, Arthur and Amelia of Aspen; and his nephews, Elias and Sawyer Helzberg.

In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to further scholarships for travel abroad at University Academy to the University Academy Foundation, 8080 Ward Parkway, Kansas City, Missouri 64114 or the charity of your choice.

“Bush and I met and had lunch in NYC just before he returned to KC, and we met up again at a Berkshire Hathaway meeting. We joked that both of us were scions of retail jewelry businesses, but opted instead for investment management. We’ve kept up via social media. We had fun; we did good things for our villages; we had an impact on our Malian families. I am truly sorry for all of you as you navigate without Bush--I know the pain is deep.”
