He was predeceased by: his parents, Mary Elizabeth "Betty" Dean, (O'Brien) and Ellsworth Arnold Dean, Sr.; his stepfather John W. Johnson; and his brothers, Ellsworth A. Dean, Jr., Michael P. Dean and Terrance Glenn Dean.
He is survived by: his former wife Janet M. Cain of Parker; and his daughters, Teri Finley (Todd) of Aurora and Stacy Mitchell (Christy Nate) of Aurora. He is also survived by seven grandchildren.
