He was predeceased by: his parents, Mary Veretta Jackson and Harold Ray "Bill" Hiatt. He is survived by: his sister Judith "Sam" Morgan (Janet Griego Malouff); his wife Cheryl Horn; his children, Rhonda Hiatt Jones (Nathan Jones) and Travis Otto Hellwig; and his grandchildren, Luca Hiatt Monaco and Giovanni Hiatt Monaco.
