She was predeceased by: her parents, Juan Luis Valencia and Elaisa Herrera Valencia; her husband Charles Atencio; her sons, Elden Atencio and Patrick Atencio; and her siblings, Rose Gutierrez, Tivia Sisneros, Isidoria Garcia, Tony Valencia, Luis Valencia and Onesimo Valencia.
She is survived by: her children, Eliza Nelen (Bernadine Atencio) of Alamosa, CO, Susan Salas (Jose) of Alamosa, CO, Darryl Atencio (Lawrence Atencio) and Paul Valencia (Joann) of La Garita, CO; and her brothers, Alfred Valencia (Evelyn) of Montrose, CO and Ernest Valencia (Juanita) of Fruita, CO.. She is also survived by numerous extended family members and friends.
