He was predeceased by: his wife Glenda Alves; his sons, Joseph Alves III and Michael Alves; his parents, Joseph Alves and Mary Alves; and his brother Richard Alves.
He is survived by: his children, Sharon Alves Dake, Tony Alves and Kari Alves Stewart; and his daughter-in-law Julie Alves. He is also survived by grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
