He is survived by: his pet Gus; his wife Wendy; his mother Kathleen Melton; his sister Karen Stam (John); his uncle Kenny; his aunts, Lurline Medford and Shirley Loftis; his sons, Rick Highley, Casey Highley (Rachel) and Jake Highley (Mona); his nieces, April Singh (Reggie) and Morgan McGuire (David Schmidl); his grandchildren, Kamryn, Kaitlyn and Dean; his great-nieces, Chesney, Madi, Tommie, Cierra and Salem; and his great-nephew David.
