He was predeceased by: his parents, Harvey Newton Shaw and Sarah Ruth McGalliard Shaw; his wife Sybil Alene Goble Shaw; and his siblings, Louise DuVall, Frances Leaf and Thomas Shaw. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests for memorials to be made to St. Mark's Lutheran Church, 326 N. Main Street, China Grove, NC 28023 in his honor.
