He was predeceased by: his parents, Mistuhei and Kaga; and his grandson Michael. He is survived by: his wife Kumiko; his children, Aileen Hui (Steve), Tracy Sakata (Corina) and Lisa Sakata; his grandchildren, Anthony Sakata (Shannon), Ryan Hui and Cristina Sakata; and his great grandchildren, Gabriel, Adeleigh and Lyla Sakata.
