He was predeceased by: his parents, Mitoshi Hirahara and Teyo Hirahara; and his siblings, Fumio, Katsuji, Noboru, Tommy and Sumako Abey.
He is survived by: his grandson Colin Hirahara; his son Jean; his siblings, Ben, Eiko, Yoshiko Nishihara, Wakako Tanikawa, Akiko Nagai, Masako Matano and Emiko Hirano; and his friend David Craigmile of Aptos. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
