He was predeceased by: his former wife Mary Harlan. He is survived by: his wife Ruth Martin; his children, Will Harlan and Heather Cozad; his stepsons, Peter and Geoffrey Martin; and his pet Tripper. He is also survived by his grandchildren, and great-granddaughter.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Oregon Shakespeare Festival.
