He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Nicholas Gassoumis and Zacharo Gassoumis; his wife Paula (Mousalimas); his children, Zachary Gassoumis and Ria Rossi (Stephen); his grandsons, Nicholas, John Gassoumis, Demitri, Angelo Gassoumis, Blake McCulloch and Louca Rossi; his sister Marjorie Phillips; his former wife Koula Raptis; and his sister Helen Davis Cary. He was also cherished by in-laws, nieces, nephews, godchildren, and numerous family members.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to the Dean Gassoumis Memorial Fund (PO Box 2157, Walnut Creek, CA 94595), for the benefit of patients in need of financial support for LVAD or BEMER therapies.
