It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Betty Ann Van Essen (Visalia, California), born in Artesia, California, who passed away on February 3, 2023, at the age of 78, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Cornelius Steen and Ida Vander Steen; and her siblings, Luetta VandenBosch and Ivan. She is survived by: her sisters, Kaye Fransen and Connie Kille; her husband Larry Van Essen (Southwest Christian); her daughters, Rebecca (Bernard), Leah Geertsema (Mark) and Sarah Willborn (Casey); and her grandchildren, Kelsey Leyendekker (Fred), Adam (Paige), Jacob (Lindsey), Lauren Twigge (Daniel), Alex, Jaclyn Sousa (Wade), Simon, Jordan Hedrick (Ben), Michaela Hogan (Tyler), Sean Geertsema, Isaac and Ethan Willborn. She is also survived by her 12 great grandchildren, two sisters, several brother and sister in laws as well as many nieces and nephews.
