He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward Verret and Leontine Verret; his sons, John Verret, Jr. and Michael Verret; and his stepson Cary Midtbo.
He is survived by: his sister Loyce Patin of Baton Rouge, Louisiana.; his wife Alice; his children, Debra Watkins of Huntington Beach, Brian Verret of Las Vegas, NV and Gail Taylor of Pomona, CA; and his stepdaughter Leslie Grimm of Perry, GA. He is also survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and nieces.
He loved visiting Quantico and the Marine Corps Heritage Foundation in Virginia.
