He was predeceased by: his parents, Edna Flemister and Hubert Hughes Sr.; his siblings, Aurelia Hughes and Leroy Carey; and his daughter Capitola Hancock.

He is survived by: his spouse JoAnne Hughes; his sibling Katherine David; his children, Michelle, Melissa, Melinda and Chris (Amy); his grandchildren, Gabrielle Hughes and Taylor Pisano; and his great grandchildren, Nathan, Cyrus, Liam Hatchett, Cash Morrison, Kaela Weber and Isabella Kirpachova.
