“Sometimes I would take Marleen to school, I had an old pick up if I pulled the choke out it would backfire. So when we would get close to the unloading zone I would pull the choke out so the pick up would backfire. Marleen was crouched down on the floor and would not get up. Did this several times.”

“When Marleen was trying to learn how to drive and I was teaching her, we went to the paint store and got 6 gallons of paint. When we came back home she was going to park beside the curb. She hit the curb and bounced me into the dash. I told her “Back up and do that again” Exactly. She hit the curb again!! Walking up the driveway I said I should kick your butt. She jumped, dropped 2gallons of paint. Both lids came off. You can just picture that.”

“One time I had to replace the toilet seat on the toilet. When I got finished she jumped up on the toilet seat backwards, facing the wall, and said “Dad, it fits”. Marleen had a beautiful voice and she sang. She also tried to learn how to play the piano. I went to a recital, I’m still suffering the ill affects is that.”

“We took a little trip to Crystal Cave up by Sequoia. I was carrying Marleen on my shoulders coming out of the cave. She had her hands wrapped around the top of my head and she said to me, “Dad, somebody spit on you”. It was sweat. Marleen didn’t march to the same drum as everybody else.”

“These are things that you may not know about Marleen. First time I met her was October 29, 1961 at 3:12 PM. We didn’t know if we were going to have a boy or a girl. If it was a boy his name was going to be Farren Morgan. If it was a girl she was going to be Marleen Louise. The name Marleen came from a lady that worked at our doctors office. She was a very very nice lady.”
