He was predeceased by: his siblings, Miyoshi and Florence Hattori. He is survived by: his wife Kazuko; his sister Sadako Sumida; and his children, Marianne Fukumoto (Joseph), Dean (Judy) and Suzanne Nakashioya (Howard). He is also survived by seven grandchildren and a great grandchild.
