Thornton Richard Bates Obituary

Dear friends of Thornton,

It is with great sadness that I announce the death of my Father, Thornton Richard Bates in Thornton, California at the Bates Ranch on June 3, 2020, 9:57 am. Thornton was the only child of Charlotte and Dick Bates who were his Mother and Father. That Wednesday morning, Dad left me suddenly after 1 hour and 45 minutes of being awake and within next 15 minutes of slower breathing he was out of his body to the next spiritual journey. I was his caregiver and daughter and witnessed death for the very first time which left me heartbroken.
My dad was a quiet soul at times and enjoyed his fishing days out on the ocean, especially in the Bodega Bay. I remember when he took me fishing or to get a burger mine and his favorite meal. He was a drinker and talker and loved to go to casino and play slots or he could sit for 12 to 14 hours and just play solitaire over and over as my grandmother Charlotte did. He was always dreaming big! I invite anybody who knew him throughout his childhood and adult life to mourn now over loss of a gentle man. I'm so grateful for the years that I did have him in my life even if they were the most difficult and heartbreaking times. Dad will NEVER be forgotten and I hope he is forgiven for any mistakes and sins he committed as we all should be asking for forgiveness as Life is tough to always do the right thing. I miss you Dad!
