He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, John Berry McFerrin and Neville North McFerrin; his brother John Berry McFerrin, Jr.; his wife Thea; his son John Philip McFerrin; his daughter-in-law Kate; his grandsons, James and Michael; his great grandchild Peter Anthony McFerrin; and also, Ilona, Madeline and Bruno.
He held a Certified Employee Benefits Specialist certification from the International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans and often wore a T-shirt that read, "Pensions Are Exciting – Ask an Expert.".
