John Peter DiMaccio Obituary
Dr. John Peter Di Maccio passed away unexpectedly on February 6, 2023. He was born in Steubenville, Ohio, to parents John and Theresa (Gabriele) Di Maccio, now deceased.
Dr. Di Maccio is preceded in death by his second wife, Mary (Vela). He leaves behind two bereaved sons, John, Jr. and Thomas; beloved grandchildren, Gio and Luca; daughter-in-law Tiana (Patierne); dear sister Donna Fourlegnie (Di Maccio); and, brother-in-law Jean Pierre. He also leaves behind the Vela and Rivera families of Palm Desert and the rest of his extended family, friends and devoted patients.
He began undergraduate studies at the College of Steubenville (now Franciscan University) and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree. Thereafter, he was accepted at the Ohio State University College of Dentistry and graduated with a Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree.
As a young dentist he began practice in Reynoldsburg, a suburb of Columbus, Ohio, with his wife, Nancy (Williams) as office manager. In addition to his practice he also owned a dental lab. After a number of years he decided to relocate to San Diego, California, where he opened two dental practices in neighboring towns, one in La Costa and the other in National City. He maintained and worked in his 5-Star practices until his recent death.
Dr. Di Maccio was an outstanding member of the dental profession. He was a Judicial and Ethics Consultant for the Columbus Dental Society. He was also a member of the Academy of General Dentistry. He retains a certificate with the Delta Sigma Delta of which he was a member. “Doc” was so loved by his patients that he was awarded National City's Favorite Dentist.
Dr. Di Maccio was a person who made many valuable contributions to needy causes. He loved his faith and his church. He was a loving family man and will be remembered for his kind and generous demeanor, funny wit and humbleness.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, March 11 from 10:00am-12:30pm at Grace Presbyterian Church, 31143 Nicolas Road, Temecula, California 92591. A reception will follow the service. He will be laid to rest next to his wife, Mary, in Palm Desert, California.
In lieu of flowers the family would prefer a donation to the American Heart Association.
