He was predeceased by: his parents, Harriett Cecil (Bernal) and George Francis Pfaff. He is survived by: his wife Penny Mello of Sutter Creek; his children, Elizabeth Bates of Marysville, CA, Mary Smith (Grafton) of Reno, NV, Kathy Mello of Bakersfield, CA, Craig Gorski of Sutter Creek, Gary Mello of Concord, CA and Dean Mello of Clearlake, CA; and his stepchildren, Meghan Vidal of Belmont, CA, Sean O'Connor of Campbell, CA, Justin O'Connor of Jackson, CA and Colin O'Connor (Lisa) of Belmont, CA. He is also survived by many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and a great-great grandchild.
