He was predeceased by: his parents, Oren Petersen and Laudine Petersen; his brothers, Rick and Bobby Petersen; and his son Derek Petersen.
He is survived by: his wife Marlene Petersen; his daughter Jamie Stavenger (Chris); his stepchildren, Jennifer Cavender (Tod) and Aaron Hauk; and his grandchildren, Kendall, Carter Stavenger and Laney Cavender. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
