Juan Lee Wong Obituary
Juan Lee Wong, age 88, was called before the presence of Our Heavenly Father, on September 11, 2018, at 6:45 in the morning. He was born in the city of Bluefields, Nicaragua, on August 25, 1930. His parents were Juan Wong and Rosa Flores. He was raised by his father, whom he dearly loved and highly respected. He shared very fond memories of him often. He graduated from the Military Academy of Nicaragua, cadet number 404, as Infantry Lieutenant in 1953. He excelled both academically and professionally. He obtained his law degree at the University of Central America (UCA) in Managua, Nicaragua in 1972; Juan achieved the rank of Infantry Colonel, Legal Counsel, and Deputy Chief of the Department of National Security, under the Presidency of Anastasio Somoza.
In 1979, Juan and his family immigrated to the United States, due to the revolutionary war that ensued in Nicaragua. By the grace of God, they began a new life in the state of California. He pursued a career in private security, for more than 30 years and completed a degree in Administration of Justice from De Anza College in Cupertino, CA. Upon retiring at age 82, he enjoyed spending time with his wife, either watching FOX News, conversing over a cup of coffee, or eating out. His favorite restaurants were IHOP and King Wah Restaurant. Chinese food was his favorite. He loved going to Target with his wife, and spending between 3 to 4 hours looking around, trying to figure out what to buy. His pride and joy were his grandchildren. On his 88th Birthday (18 days before he died), with tears in his eyes, he wholeheartedly told them, that they were the reason he hoped to live longer – he wanted to see them grow up. They then took, what would be their last picture together.
In 1989, at a Sunday evening church service at Iglesia Templo Nueva Jerusalen, he accepted Jesus Christ, as his Lord and Savior. From then on, he lived a life committed to God. He studied the Bible faithfully and developed a deep and personal relationship with God. He was passionate about speaking with others about God and the gift of salvation. When he preached, he prayed for wisdom to present a clear message of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. His relationship with God became of utmost significance to him. During his last 16 months of life, he would continuously share his faith with his medical providers and delivered the same message, "I'm not going to live forever and I'm not afraid to die. I know where I'm going.”
He was married for 51 years to Maria Albertina Wong. As his health continued to decline, she faithfully stood by his side. On September 10th, a day before he died, he was surrounded by his loved ones, at his home. They prayed with and for him, in honor of his life. They expressed their gratitude to God for allowing him to be a part of their lives. Shortly after, he was transported to the hospital, via ambulance. He passed away, peacefully in his sleep, on September 11, 2018, at 6:45 in the morning. During his final hours of life, he held his wife’s hand, while she caressed his forehead, until it was time to let go.
He is survived by his wife Maria Albertina Wong; daughters Johanna and Jennifer Wong; daughters Carla, Martha and Lily Wong-Tucci, and son Juan Silvio Wong-Tucci; grandchildren Charles and Christopher Jarquin, Aaliyah, Jada, and Alannah Brown and, son-in-law Eric Brown. He is preceded in death by his son, Bayardo Alberto Wong and his father, Juan Wong.
Jesus told him: I am the resurrection and the life; he who believes in me, even though he is dead, will live. John 11:25
