She is survived by: her sisters, Debbie Yee and Dawn Stemo; her husband Craig John Boreiko; her children, Nathan John Boreiko and Alyssa Boreiko Glogowski; her son-in-law Jon Glogowski; and her grandchildren, Jack Glogowski and Lillie Glogowski.
She went on to earn her National Teaching Certification which she maintained until her "pre-COVID retirement". After COVID had thinned the ranks of school staffing, Karla came out of retirement until her cancer diagnosis in 2023.
