He was predeceased by: his father Wilford Chavez. He is survived by: his mother Maria Chavez; his wife Kara Chavez; his son Juan Alejandro Madrigal-Chavez; his godson Milo Reece Ward; his stepchildren, Lauren Nelson (Jeffrey Nelson), Eric McDermott (Amber) and Natalie Gaston (Corey Gaston); and his siblings, Mark Chavez and Lynette Chavez-Ward (Maurice Ward). He is also survived by seven beautiful grandchildren, and many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was a proponent for building bicycles for under privileged children and was most recently serving as a volunteer at the local community COVID center.
