He is survived by: his children, Gary Vela (Ronette) of Beeville, Edward Vela (Maria) of Beeville, Lisa Vela and Tammy Vela of Shafter, California; and his siblings, Paul Vela of La Cruces, Rene Vela of Shafter, California, Luciana Ramirez of Michigan and Gracie Luna of Shafter. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.
