He was predeceased by: his parents, Bennie Hines and Ruby Hines (Matlock); and his brother-in-law Jesse Sims. He is survived by: his wife Doris Hines (Griffin); his daughters, Mary Hines Lee (Ralls) of Seabrook, Pamela Hines McLaurin (Chuck) of Center Grove and Melinda Hines Graves (Ron) of Floydada; his grandchildren, Kaleb McLaurin (Raynie), Makenzie Thomas (Cullen), Braden Graves (Sarah Jo), Heston Graves (Callie Crocket), Savannah and Sigourney Lee; his great grandchild Reece Taylor McLaurin; his sister Betty Sims; and his sister-in-law Mary Bridges. He is also survived by many other relatives and friends.
