He was predeceased by: his former wife Lily Grabil; his wife Janice; his parents, Cyrus Welch and Anna Welch; and his siblings, John and Claire.

He is survived by: his children, Tom Welch (Kathy) of Hermosa Beach, Dolores DeKorte (Tim) of Santa Maria, Anita Lee (Mark) of Incline Village and Jennifer Hawkins (Rod) of Santa Maria.
