He is survived by: his wife Becki Cowan of Santa Maria, CA; his brother Tom Potter of Bullhead City, AZ; his stepsisters, Joan Potter Martin and Myrna Potter Bowman; his children, Brian Christopher Potter of Paso Robles, CA and Erin McClure Bonilla of Suffolk, VA; and his grandchildren, Stephanie, Olivia Bonilla, Nathan and Max Bonilla.

“My deepest condolences, and it’s an understatement to say that Frank will be truly missed, he was a beacon of light showing us all how public safety can and should work with the media, and I see his legacy living on every day. Among other things, I had distinct the pleasure of co-designing and co-delivering a multi-day public information training course in Southern California about 15 years ago, and he was just a consummate professional and genuinely nice guy with a terrific sense of humor, I have nothing but great memories. We talked for some years afterwards, but sadly it struck me that we hadn’t talked recently. I will miss my friend.”
