He was predeceased by: his parents, Juliana Zavala and Felix Zavala; and his daughter-in-law Judy Zavala. He is survived by: his wife Lydia Zavala; his children, Lydia Ortega (Tony), Arthur Zavala, Mary Garcia (Johnny) and David Zavala; and his brothers, Juan, Domingo and Margarito Zavala. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren, 12 great- grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
