He was predeceased by: his parents, Jose Silveira Gonsalves Jr. and Maria Inacio; his wife Maria Conceicao Gonsalves; and his siblings, Manuel Gonsalves, João Gonsalves (Julia), Vitoria Sanches (Jose), Jorge Gonsalves and Vital Bettencourt.

He is survived by: his daughter Maria Van Buiten (Fred); his grandchildren, Bastiaan and Annamarie; his sister Celeste Bettencourt; and his siblings-in-law, Filomena Gonsalves and Jose Angelo Soares. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
