He was predeceased by: his parents, David Francis Sumpter and Frances Luvanna Gwynn. He is survived by: his wife Mary Ann Rechtien; his children, Louise Ann, Thomas David (Janet), Elaine Irene (Jim) and Julie Marie (Jim); his grandchildren, Daniel (Ranjani), Katie, Michael, Mary (Francisco), Sarah, Colette (Patrick), David (Katy), Marielle and Scotty; his great grandchildren, Oliver, Callum, Nikhil and Adriana; his sister JoAnn; and his caregiver Eduardo Pichardo.
Visitation was held on Monday, April 14th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Lima Family Santa Clara (466 N Winchester Blvd, Santa Clara, CA 95050). A rosary was held on Monday, April 14th 2025 at 6:00 PM at the same location. A funeral Mass was held on Tuesday, April 15th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the St Justin Catholic Church (2655 Homestead Rd, Santa Clara, CA 95051).
In lieu of flowers, contributions in David's memory may be made to Alzheimer's Association, American Heart Association, or to a charity of your choice.
